Healthy Meals

Establishing a healthy meal plan is important for staying on track for a healthy lifestyle. Healthy foods include low-fat proteins, low-fat dairy, fruit, vegetables, and grains.

It is important to eat three healthy meals a day along with two healthy snacks as a growing child.

What should I not eat every day?

Salted and fried snacks, cookies, cakes, and soda. They are alright to have occasionally but not every day. All of these snacks contain too much salt and sugar for a healthy lifestyle.

What are some examples of healthy meals for a day?

Breakfast: One cup whole grain cereal with 2% milk
                    Small banana
                   One cup of orange juice

Lunch:      Two ounces of deli ham on whole grain bread
1 tablespoon of mayonnaise or mustard
                   Carrot sticks
                   12 grapes
Water or one cup of 2% milk

Dinner:   One baked chicken breast with no-salt Italian                              seasoning
                 One cup of brown rice
                 One cup of green beans
One cup tossed salad with light dressing
                 One tangerine
Water or one cup of 2% milk

Snack:     One cheese stick
                 One small apple

Snack:     One cup air-popped popcorn
                  12 raisins

Keep trying new healthy foods. Eating healthy foods will help you feel better and have more energy.
